About us

Catriona
My first experience of Mongolia was in 2004, when I spent 6 months as a volunteer in Ulaanbaatar. Apart from teaching English in the city, I also had the opportunity to see some of the countryside, from the north down to the Gobi. Since then I have returned three times, as a volunteer and student.
After having been in Mongolia on an organised placement and had the opportunity to get to know people, it was easy for me to return independently, but for those with no local knowledge or contacts, it can be very difficult to find volunteering opportunities without going through expensive mediators. Likewise, local organisations may struggle to get the help they need. That is why I have set up this site, in the hope of providing a meeting point where Mongolian non-profit organisations and independent volunteers can make direct contact.
While it is a wonderful place to visit, travelling to Mongolia independently may not be suitable for everyone. If you are thinking of becoming a volunteer, please read the About Mongolia pages before making contact with any organisation.
I hope you find everything you need on this site, and wish you success in creating the perfect partnership!

I was born and brought up in Ulaanbaatar and live with my wife and young daughter. I graduated from the Mongolian Agricultural University in 2003 and spent 3 years working in South Korea. Now I work as a social worker and translator at the Christina Noble Children's Foundation. I am responsible for the Mongolian language content of the website and helping to raise awareness of site in Mongolia and I am proud of what I am doing for this site because it is something I can do for my fellow Mongolians.
